The Authority Behind Our StandardsThe Association Against Counterfeit Product Distribution (AACD) is a distinguished organization composed of over 100 top-tier distributors in Japan who handle parallel imports and pre-owned brand products.
While parallel importing is legal in Japan under specific conditions, the protection of intellectual property rights remains paramount. The AACD was established with a singular mission: to create a sound and reliable market where consumers can purchase genuine brand products safely, without the fear of encountering counterfeits.

How We Protect the MarketThe AACD works tirelessly to prevent fraudulent products from ever reaching the hands of consumers. This is achieved through a strict, independently established system:
- Strict Member Obligations: AACD is comprised of companies that voluntarily endorse this cause. Once a company becomes a member, they bear a strict obligation to observe AACD criteria.
- Market Monitoring: Member companies establish and operate internal systems for monitoring and eliminating "nonconforming goods" from their inventory.
- Industry-Wide Cooperation: To protect brand images and intellectual property, the AACD actively seeks cooperation with other institutions, organizations, and brand rights holders.
The "AACD Criteria"
The Standard of ExcellenceThe AACD has established its own rigorous "AACD Criteria" to define standards for handling brand products. Goods that do not meet these high standards are classified as "nonconforming goods" and are strictly prohibited from sale.

Certified Experts
The Human TouchTechnology alone is not enough. The human eye is essential for final judgment. The AACD has established a rigorous certification system for "Certified AACD Criteria Examiners":
- Rigorous Training: Examiners must complete roughly 18 hours of specialized lectures.
- Strict Testing: Candidates must pass a difficult eligibility test to become certified.
- 5-Year Renewal: Certification is not permanent; it must be renewed every 5 years to ensure expertise remains current.
